There is a lot of confusion about this.It's because even with ASIO drivers that are WORKING, you can get the kmixer (windows 'master volume') to function just by having it selected under windows audio properties.
Go to your windows audio properties and under devices, pick a DIFFERENT device besides your ASIO sound device - like an onboard sound codec, or a different sound card, or even a virtual cable if you have that installed.
After you do this, your ASIO software/hardware will still work, but you will no longer be able to control the volume with the windows mixer... because it is **associated with a different hardware device** and not selected as the 'Default Windows Playback Device".
Try this and see what happens.
