To turn it around, did you ever stop to think you are a slave to your "flexibility"?
I don't want choices. Every evening, I fire of the system and it sounds absolutely excellent to me. I did due diligence with my rips, I select my download purchases very carefully, and I have my system optimized. One set of hard drives feeds to separate systems. All controlled via tablet and phone.
I agree with you that neither route is superior to the other.
My original comments about Steve being surprised about a power supply "upgrade" for his Mac Mini was just to illustrate that in MY mind a plastic, mass produced consumer computer is not and ideal audio component.
Naim, ironically, btw, as we all know, offers power external power supply
"upgrades" for many of their products. I have not yet explored that, but from what I have heard, the difference is very subtle.
