I have no such 'isolator' on my AMANERO board. What's it do?

Also, when using the UpTone adapter above on my MicorRendu to Audio-GD USB, I don't hear any difference with the 'VBUS' cut or not, leading me to believe that it likely isn't going anywhere important inside the DAC?
