RE: USB Ports sound different...

I used USB for my storage drive. I also use USB for a wireless keyboard and mouse.

My thoughts are to keep the two USB devices on separate hubs.

I have not done a lot of comparisons, but in PC audio my belief is that it's best to minimize shared resources, and minimize non-audio related features.

For example, I might surf and listen casually, but when doing some serious listening I not only refrain from surfing but I completely disable the (wired) network adapter. Much better latency results with no periodic "CPU blasts" from the windows anti-malware exe.

Another fun thing to experiment with is processor affinity...
