Buy a few extra cells and a decent charger, like the Xtar VP2 for $35 and go from there. Once a cell gets depleted, replace it with a freshly charged cell, as long as you have some sort of battery cradle for it, that is.
Are you using a regulated/adjustable power supply?
The king of the heap is now something like the hybrid LG MJ1 3500mAh 18650, or the Sanyo-Panasonic NCR18650GA 3500mAh.
They give good 10A constant current (overkill I know) and have almost 12Wh at lower drains.
These cells are nominally 3.6v/3.7v, but come hot off the charger at 4.2v, so if you need 3.3v, you'd have to step it down somehow.
How many mA is the Regen sucking down?
