Is it a Manufacture or an individual making the recommendations. If say it's an individual (competent engineer) who is making a suggestion that he really believes would benefit someone who already has cash spent on a component, I think that is great. If they are doing it under a competing company name, that raises questions. I've found there are two types of people in audio. Those that love the hobby and try to help others, and than there are snakes in the grass!
