Bluetooth questions

Currently I connect my laptop to a DAC and then split the signal with a Y-cable. One leg goes to a headphone amp which is next to my chair and the other goes to the preamp about 20' away via an IC. My wife wants to get rid of the cable.
Questions: 1)If I use a bluetooth transmitter (aptX codec) from the DAC to a receiver at the preamp what do I lose? Or another way of asking this, how lossy is aptX? 2) A re there any lossless alternatives? 3) Would it be better to "bluetooth" from the computer to the DAC rather from the DAC to the preamp?
