RE: Sorry if I'm missing the point, but

I don't know what studios do. I record my LPs for my own personal use. I record in 32-bit because it sounds better than 24-bit, at least with the gear in my system (see link below). When I A-B the LP playing on the turntable vs. recordings of that same LP, 32-bit wins!

192 kHz 24-bit LP sides use about 1.5 GB of storage, 32-bit about 2 GB of storage. Doubling the sampling rate to 384 kHz doubles the storage requirement to ~8 GB per LP! I consider the extra space needed for 32-bit recordings to be acceptable over 24-bit recordings, but can't wrap my head around the space required for 384 kHz 32-bit recordings, although the latter sounds just a bit (haha) better.
