I don't consider my setup particularly complicated or difficult to use. It is just a Squeezebox 3. Once the music is loaded on the computer, you just point the remote at the SB3, pick your music and press the play button. Can't get too much simpler than that.
As far as ripping the music to a computer, pretty much any 10 year old can probably show you how to do that these days.
Sure, I have a nicer DAC than the one built into the SB3, but lots of people have an external DAC for their CD player. Once plugged in that complicates nothing.
Of course, an "audiophile" doesn't need a computer to come up with complicated and arcane rituals when it comes to playing music. You forget how complex some in the analog segment of our community have made playing LP records. One doesn't have to read too many threads to see that playing an LP is far too complex a process to be left in the hands of mere mortals. Same thing if you read what others do to play CDs. Green pens, quantum dots, special player stands - again, on and on.
By definition, many audiophiles will never be happy with simply plugging something in as it comes out of the box. On that level the presence of a computer has nothing to do with it.
