The first is is the combination of small size and low shutter lag. Most of the DSLRs that have equivalently low shutter lag are quite bulky pro and semi-pro models, though that's getting better now. The small digitals tend to have egregious shutter lag.The other potential advantage for some photographers is the Leica's viewfinder. While most photographers prefer the ground-glass projection of an SLR viewfinder, there is a certain style of close-in reportage shooting that can benefit from the direct, uninterpreted view of the plain glass window of the Leica. It can put you in more direct contact with what is actually happening in front of your camera, while an SLR's ground-glass finder tends to separate the photographer and the subject more. A ground-glass presents a view that encourages a more abstract analysis of the image rather than a participation in the event being recorded. This is why social documentary photogs like David Allan Harvey prefer Leicas. It's a psychological effect that matters to perhaps one in a thousand photographers, but I understand its allure, having been under that spell for many years.
In the final analysis though, zoom lenses and autofocus are much more helpful to good image-making.
