This took Brewster-Jennings out of play. Their mandate was obviously well known by Langley. Why would someone want to take them down?The answer that pops up is "Because they had discovered, or were about to discover, an uncomfortable secret." I still think Wilson was a convenient twofer. The real target was Brewster-Jennings.
In addition, look at the rather suggestive timing of Dr. David Kelly's murder in England. He was a WMD expert as well. And I still wonder about the death of John Kokal.
