I'm not saying this many deaths are desirable, I'm simply saying they are inevitable. Humans will do little to precipitate the dieoff other than simply continuing to consume resources and excrete wastes as always. I'm saying that none of the measures humanity is proposing to take that are aimed at preventing this outcome will work. We will not kill others outright so much as naively collaborate in our own extinction. The real conductors of the dieoff, those impersonal forces collectively anthropomorphized as Mother Nature, don't care what religion the participants are. Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus - all will fall with equal impartiality before the scythe. It will be much like the the normal course of human events, but much, much faster.
I value human life tremendously. I just don't think there's much we can do to save most of it. From the point of view of the planet's other inhabitants, that may not be such a bad outcome.
