That seems reasonable, given that 1.5 mbpd of that "consumption" is actually exported from the Tar Sands to the USA, and the fact that our economy has a strong bias towards resource extraction in general.I would prefer to see Tar Sands development shut down completely, which at one stroke wold address our consumption, out CO2 emissions and our hypocrisy. Until our government, our oil industry and the United States agree to my proposal, though, I think our hands are somewhat tied. We are left to depend on citizen actions to alleviate the problem and rey to rehabilitate out international image.
