All the insights we have about the state of Saudi oil fields are from data analysis and inference. However, starting with Matt Simmons' reverse engineering in his book "Twilight in the Desert", watching what the Saudis do as opposed to what they say, and carefully crunching the numbers that are available, the implications seem to point in one direction only.
Price is a lousy signal of the state of the underlying geology because it is subject to significant above-ground influences.
