Does that number of 21,500 represent the full contingent of combat and support troops, or just the combat troops? According the linked site:
Over the past few years , DoD’s practice has been to deploy a total of about 9,500 personnel per combat brigade to the Iraq theater, including about 4,000 combat troops and about 5,500 supporting troops.
So that means that either there will be 9,000 combat troops and 12,500 support troops for a total of 21,500, or 21,500 combat troops and some large number of additional support troops, bringing the total deployed up to 40,000 to 50,000.
Does anyone have any insight into this?
