1. The cosmologists I've read and read about appear to think the matter is settled. Insofar as my limited background in the field is able to follow their arguments, their arguments seem reasonable and internally consistent. So yes, I agree with it.2. The notion that there had to be something "before" the big bang, or a First Cause, seems to me simply evidence of the human inability to comprehend the true nature of a singularity. That failure is probably inherent - perhaps genetic, perhaps simply in the nature of our organism. We can approach that understanding asymptotically, but we cannot surround it. As a result, the BB is mute on the question of God.
3. If I can be said to have a religion, it is a bi-level construct, with both levels derived from the reality around me. The first is the human level, where questions of ethics and morality come into play. On this level I am a humanist who follows a system of Consequential Ethics. The other level is the universal, which is concerned with the rest of the non-human universe. Here you find my sense of awe, wonder and mystery, and of course the idea of the Big Bang plays an important role in that. I see the universe as wholly natural, though. Even its singularities exist by and of their own nature. The universe is wonderful enough that I feel no need to hypothesize into existence any gods to oversee or wind its clockwork.
