RU-486 and its other incarnations such as Plan-B can work in a number of ways:1. By preventing the release of an egg from the ovaries.
2. By preventing the fertilization of the released egg.
3. By preventing the fertilized egg (embryo) from attaching to the uterine wall.
Cases 1 and 2 are contraception. Case 3 is considered by many to be chemical abortion, since the embryo is already several days old before attachment to the uterine wall. It's still the age old question...At what point do you believe life begins?
