Lost a good friend to cancer several years ago, but for the most part, everyone in my circle of friends has been fortunate, although it could have been worse. A close friend is a survivor of melanoma that resulted in a brain tumor, excised by gamma knife treatment. We've got a couple of breast cancer survivors in our group, too.
My personal lesson from all of this is to take every opportunity that presents itself to socialize and share good times with those you care about.
