Okay. Info came from 2 school board members, one who was in my pack of best friends in High School, who I went on to room with in college. The other is a gal who was a few years older than me growing up, who was one of my sister's friends. Both told me that the QVSD is on a form of acedemic probation, due to their horrific 8th grade WASL test results. The 10th grade results were better, because of the drop out rate. My friend told me that recently, High Tech High test scores were higher than those at QHS.Also got info from 2 Quincy High School teachers, who told stories about how the kids being passed from Middle School to High School require remedial work just to bring them up to the knowledge that they should have their first day at High School.
Also have info from a teacher at High Tech High. He's happy with the results. Feels sorry for his friends who teach at QMS and QHS, who attend the same church as he and his family.
My friend who serves on the school board, an elected position, I might add, says that he isn't thrilled about the future, should they not meet the State's expectations. That "tough choices will have to be made." and that "It wouldn't make me a popular guy in our little town".
You own Krell amps, right, Paul? I could have posted here the troubles that the company was having 6 months before it hit the press and would have become a clickable link for you to read. I could have posted the dates when their suppliers refused to sell to them, even with cash on delivery. I could have posted the date when over half of the staff were layed off, without any sort of warning, and told to clean out their offices and lockers within the next 2 hours. There wouldn't have been a clickable link, ... but that still doesn't change the fact that this info was indeed true.
You won't find a clickable link regarding the QVSD's acedemic probation, try as you might, especially before the public votes on the next School Bond Election. Gee, I wonder why?
