Shlooby,
I checked statistics for Baghdad and the record high temperature for July was 49 C or 120.2 F- only 1.2 degrees above the Woodland Hills temperature!
The worst feature of that week was that there were 6 days in a row above 112 F- plus the humidity was 5-7%. Going outdoors was like running into a wall of flames. I lived then on the north edge of the Woodland Hills Country Club course and I saw one or two players early in the morning, but by 10AM all those players had apparently melted.
If I didn't know better than to use individual anecdotes as evidence, I'd say climate change is true! That 119 was the highest temperature ever recorded within Los Angeles City limits.
Were you playing the public course next to the Sepulveda flood basin? A structural engineer friend plays there and a membership one in Porter Ranch. My local-though I don't play I'm friends with the owner- is now the Calabasas Country Club.
Cheers,
Bambi B
