Patrick,

Yes, I have an architect friend with a 735 which had many problems. He bought a 740 and it too was trouble- mostly electrical.

However, Jaguars seem to have continual trouble. My brother had a 1996 XJ6 and he called it the "three week disaster" - every three weeks something expensive would break- and always $XXXX. When the brake lights would stay on all the time, the dealer took the whole car apart to find that cleaning liquid had damaged the computer that controlled the driver's seat and brake lights- $1,500 ! The steering wheel motor- $500, sunroof problems, $1,000 and so on. To solve the trouble, he bought a 2004 XJ8 and even that car- with 50,000 miles now has had some trouble- new air suspension compressor- $900. The trouble we put on ourselves for style and comfort!

I had a Jaguar too- for 22 years, 1957 XK140 roadster. A fantastic car except the brakes were not enough for the speed.

My everyday car for 10 years was a Mercedes 300SEL 6.3. I've had a lot of cars over the years- 35 or so, but now in Los Angeles traffic I like the Lincoln MK VIII- 300HP Mustang Cobra Engine, air suspension, and a coupe- my cheap cheap BMW 650 and actually lighter than the BMW!

Cheers,

Bambi B
