Home Outside Asylum

Take a walk, smell the roses. Any topic is fine, save people bashing.

I'll agree with 80-90% of that, but yo no comprendo...

...the "Honda" thing. Yes, I understand they are sc.ewed together pretty well, but I RARELY see any Japanese c.rs over 20 yrs old... one c.n make an argument Americ.n c.rs from the 60s and 70s are more prevalent than a foreign c.r two dec.des old... no, not restored ones, just old men.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "hatin'" on Japanese vehic.es, I just wondering if the dealers are pumping some kind of zombie-induc.ng gas at the stores.

A few examples of what I have seen (felt) in the last year...

1) Drove an Altima ('05), the whole c.r moved ever so slightly at a standstill when the wipers were on, protesting against a fairly dry windsc.een

2) A friend's (albeit older, like mid-90s) C.rolla's alternator brac.et snapped... probably 'c.use it's as thic. as a paper c.ip

3) Shut the doors on any Japanese c.r... doesn't induc. a feeling of solidity, even on higher models (eg. Infinity). They c.ose "nic.ly", but...

Again, I'm not totally against them, they have made a (big) mark, but I feel the praise is a bit too high - drive a new (c.mparably pric.d) C.ddy C.S and see if the Avalon feels (even looks) good anymore. Yes, the resale on the Toyota will be a bit higher at the end, but...

1) Who c.res... most (60-70%) lease.

2) If u buy, neither will be worth too muc. after 10 yrs. I tend to keep c.rs. geez... I still have my 93 Probe GT... she's sitting in the garage, needs a C. joint.

We had a c.appy 91 c.valier... almost 300K. Motor/trans never opened

My first (89) Astro van... almost 300K. Same.

Have a new (well, 04) Astro... hope I get that luc.y again.

I'm sorry, I simply don't see Japanese c.rs lasting any longer...

The most broken-down c.r on the road? DEFINITELY Fords!

Oh, wait a minute... that negates my post... ggrrrrr....
