Re: Bruno Walter and Mozart

For Bruno recording, I can heartily recommend Schubert's Symphony No.8 (Unfinished) with NYPO and Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde with Kathleen Ferrier/VPO, in addition to the recordings already mentioned.

For Mozart symphonies, it is very instructive to compare with another excellent recordings, Karl Bohm with BPO. It is not as romantic/sweet sounding as Walter, but more majestic and noble IMHO. I think Walter's Mozart generally sounds a bit too sugarly compared to Bohm, although it is definitely a very charming and lovely performance.
