Just kidding...
Toumani Diabate is a virtuoso Griot Kora player from Mali that has played with Ali Farka Touré (their "In the Heart of the Moon" is a favorite), Tay Mahal, Roswell Rudd, Danny Thompson, various other Mailian Kora players and his own Symmetric Orchestra. His solo CD "The Mande Variations" is one of the most incredible solo recordings I've ever heard. Saw him solo at Davies Symphony Hall several years ago and his mastery at improvisation is unparrelled.
This clip is interesting as he's playing with the ultra talented Sidiki Diabaté (they have a long history of paying together) with an (obviously pre recorded backing) track. Not ideal, but you'll get the idea. He has big ears and huge talent.
Toumani has a new recording I'm dieing to hear called " Lamomali".
