Actually, it wasn't accurate when it was published, as it doesn't mention the EBU standard R128, which was in fairly wide use by mid-2012, as were a number of then-developing American broadcast standards. Today, loudness-adjusting software on virtually all streaming services, portable devices, and broadcasters deliberately makes hyper-compressed material sound awful. Several years ago, Bob Katz declared the loudness wars over, and he was basically right. There will always be over-compressed material, especially music mastered for ipod/ear buds, but the most extreme examples are now history.
