my kid's high school is going to NYC

for their 2nd attempt in the National Orchestra Cup. They won 2nd 2 yrs ago.

They're going to Newark, hope they don't slide off like the plane at La Guardia. My kid is co prez, meaning she is responsible for a lot of things.

Conducting will be Sey Ahn, pianist and asst conductor of the USC Orch.

In March 2013, the Diamond Bar High Symphony Orchestra placed second at the National Orchestra Cup in New York. With the music piece called "Swan Lake," the symphony orchestra amazed the audience, winning several minor awards excluding overall placement.[6]

In April 2013, the Diamond Bar concert percussion ensemble were the Southern California Percussion Alliance PSCO champions (placing first) in San Bernardino, CA, and placed second at the Winter Guard International world championships in Dayton, Ohio. They performed the show, "Star-Crossed Lovers," an arrangement of music surrounding the story of Romeo & Juliet. It was arranged by instructor Gabriel Cobas. In addition, in the same year, the Diamond Bar indoor drumline placed third at the Southern California Percussion Alliance PSA finals, with a show named "Bushido." [7][8]
Diamond Bar High School has an award-winning choral program, in which students both compete in show choir competitions around California, and also travel to local colleges and universities to share their vocal skills in festivals. Choirs include Marquis (advanced mixed show choir), Solitaire (intermediate women's show choir), Chamber Choir (advanced mixed chamber), and Diamondtones (concert choir/beginning show choir).

Diamond Bar High School has been recognized as the 2014 National Grammy Signature School, thanks to the choral and instrumental music programs at DBHS.[9]
