Mahler 1 and 4 are on one of the Cleveland Orchestra Sound CD's.
I got this on a visit to Severance Hall, during yr 2000 (they played Schumann 2nd sym and Brahms PC 2 with Pollini (!)). Dohnanyi cond.
Mahler 1, some of it is good, but somehow, it doesn't go together. Tempi are ok at first, but a bit fast for my taste in 3 and 4. Sound is a bit brassy, if that is a word.
Live, I heard it in 1989 in Severance with incredible playing from the French horns, that night Jahja Ling substituted for Dohnanyi. Just before they left for an extended tour to Europe.
Mahler 4, recording is done in Severance Hall and not Masonic. I like the performance and recorded sound. Still, not a Szell or Kletzki performance.
