I listen to a lot of chamber music (though not exclusively) and I find I get a lot of enjoyment with it from speakers that use a first order crossover and are time/phase coherent. Mine are, (Aural Acoustics Model B), as are Vandersteens and Thiels. The latter two both use metal tweeters now though and I find that that material never reproduces violins well. I'd advise sticking with silk dome tweeters.
High quality monitors, like the Sonus Fabers and ProAcs previously mentioned, and Silverlines, do well also. Again, these use silk dome tweeters.
The best sound for chamber music I've heard, however, was from a pair of Quad electrostatics. That is heaven.
Tube electronics, IMHO, are a must to get the harmonics of violins right.
