This last three weeks alone I've copped three hours of educational programming about Bach's Mass in B-minor alone. Drugged, rivetted, and insighted, to boot. Saturday at 9 AM, one of which I was up in the mountains near here and sat in the car while all the other walkers chatted and waited until we began. NB I rarely do this for other composers on Keys to Music (? see below)then Haydn, Mozart, Handel, Purcell, Beethoven, Schubert, Berlioz, Brahms Rameau, Tallis, Byrd. (ten already!)
Ten isn't enough to get much further into the 19C let alone really do justice to the previous centuries.
As I perform Anglican church music, and love choral music particularly, I tried hard to balance listening to recordings with my concert preferences.
Being a tenor is hard work.
I'd note that when I was younger LvB was IT! ;-)!
