Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

RE: Glad to see Brahms

There are those whose opinion I hold high, who do not care for Brahms and who think he was really not such a good composer at all. For example, his music might, to some, seem rather simplistic. He rarely uses counterpoint, his tempi are pretty ordinary, etc.

Personally, I do not agree with that opinion and Brahms is one of my favorite composers to listen to. But I leave to others all arguments about "greatest". I don't really care who was the greatest. I listen based on my own ears and psychological responses. If I like it, I listen to it. If I like it a lot, I listen to it more often. If I don't like it, I really don't care who wrote it or the rankings and opinions of experts, I won't listen to it more than a few times.

I love to explore music I've never heard before. But life is too short to waste listening to music I dislike. I always make time for listening to the music I truly enjoy.
