I used to have Kempe's Bruckner 8th with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra on LP. At the time, I considered it kind of weak and soft, but I'll certainly be interested in the SkD performance if it gets released. A really great orchestra, such as the SkD, could make all the difference.
I think very highly of Kempe's performances and I've read (and still have) Cordula Kempe-Oettinger's book, "Rudolf Kempe - Pictures of a Life", published in 1977. I have good memories of the Bruckner 4th and 5th he did with the Munich Philharmonic, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, I haven't heard those performances since the LP days - so it's been decades!
