Anything written for a wind instrument must allow the player to breath, just as a speaker takes a breath when speaking. In this sense, phrasing reflects speech patterns. To take it a step further, when I played in an orchestra several years back, the conductor would make it a point to get the whole group to breath together, winds, strings and percussion.
