Not only Cleveland, but all the major orchestras have lost their broadcast sponsers. Here in the Bay Area, there was a time when a different broadcast concert could be found on the radio almost nightly. In addition to our San Francisco Symphony, I listened to concerts from the Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and Chicago Symphony. Occasionally there were even broadcasts from second tier orchestras such as Montreal, Detroit, and others. The broadcasts all had big corporate sponsers that have dropped out.A sad fact is that even if the orchestras did regain sponserships, there are now much fewer classical stations, and even some of those remaining might not be willing to air such concerts. I doubt that KDFC, the Bay Area's one remaining classical station (but it is really more of a background music station) would carry broadcast concerts other than San Francisco's.
