Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Re: San Francisco classical FM stations

I didn't mean to suggest that it is easy to pick up KXPR in the Bay Area. Its signal is weak here and highly dependent on location. However I am certain that many Bay Area homes can get a very acceptable signal with an outdoor FM antenna. It is a pleasant and unexpected surprise when I discover that I can sometimes pick up its signal while I'm driving in Silicon Valley.

KDFC, a commercial classical station, is a real anomaly in the broadcasting world. Although I can hardly stand to listen to it for long, it consistently ranks near the top (number of listeners) among music stations in the Bay Area, and occasionally hits the No. 1 spot. Its ranking must surely attract advertisers. I have read that KDFC is the largest classical station in America.
