If you took it that I was insulting you, I apologize. It's just that your response to my post was so tangential to what I wrote that I seriously didn't understand where you were coming from. I'm not at all an apologist for the recording industry and their pricing practices, but the licensing issues involved for audiophile reissues are a very different issue from that, and that is the issue that was/is being discussed. All I am attempting to do is say that JVC isn't necessarily a "bunch of thieves" as postulated by the original poster because they aren't meeting the lower price point of the Audio Fidelity hybrid SACD releases, and I listed the reasons. That's all. And if someone doesn't like the XRCD pricing point, at least they have the option to buy cheaper (but still very good) issues of the same music from Fantasy Jazz, RCA/BMG's Living Stereo series, etc. for substantially less money. It's not as much as an issue with the jazz catalog, but I can assure you that I'm not particularly enamored with the concept of repurchasing the performances on the Living Stereo XRCDs at more than twice the price of the regular series, and yet they contain only half as much music as the regular CDs (which generally included two LPs worth of material; the XRCDs mimic the original LPs). The only reason I buy them is because I think the performances and additional gains in sonic quality are worth the price.
