I still haven't been able to convince Teresa that the concept of the "definitive" performance in classical music (at least as defined as the ultimate performance that has never been bettered) is simply an anathema to the art of classical music making. I end up feeling sorry for people like Teresa who see music the same way as a sporting event, where someone invariably has to be labeled "the best" or "the greatest" to make them more comfortable for liking something, just as I cringe when I read on the Hi-rez board comments like "SACD got me listening to music again" or "SACD introduced me to a bunch of new music I wouldn't have tried otherwise." Some people just don't get it.
