Yes, Arnett Cobb was one of the better tenor players who ever put
tongue to reed ... And now some love for others who are unjustly
neglected:There's Moon Mullican - great honky tonk/country piano player
who influenced a lot of folks (Jerry Lee Lewis for one) and successfully made the transition to rock. He's lots of fun.George Barnes - monster guitar player on a par with Les Paul, C. Atkins and M. Travis but is a virtual unknown.
Snooky Young - been called the best lead trumpet in history of jazz.
Still alive & living in LA, but dont think he plays much. I also
understand he is badly deaf, which tends to hinder his playing. If
you have a chance to hear him play, go hear him. He was - and
hopefully still is - marvelous.
