Well, Mrs. Bagsgroove does, but that doesn't count. She's leaglly obligated to be my sweet patootie. But the point is, I'm such an amazingly wonderful, peach of a guy, seems LOTS MORE people should know and love me. Life just ain't fair.So I'm listening to this guy named Arnett Cobb. Used LP, dirt cheap. Never heard of the guy myself, but what the hell--looks interesting and only a buck. He's (or was?) a tenor sax player from Texas. Played with Lionell Hampton for several years. Made several albums under his own name.
Awesome! One of a kind tone. Kinda funky, bluesy, R&B flavored jazz. How come I'd never heard of him? You ever heard of him? (Guys like shrugs and the serious jazz experts have, I'm sure. But they don't count.) MORE PEOPLE should know and love this guy! Life ain't fair!
Ok--here's my question, and not limited to Jazz--who have YOU found that life ain't fair to? Who do you know of that has a relativly unknown name, but a sound that should put him among the greats? Seems we owe it to these folks (and each other) to get their names out.
Or we could have yet another discussion of which version of Kind of Blue is best...
