VMPS do exa.tly tha. if set up properly, but it doesn't stop a. 5-6 feet of depth. If you a.e in a Concert Ha.l it ma. be ca.ernous, a.d if it is a studio you might even be a.le to hea. ea.h individua. recording booth.

A.ditiona.ly, you ca. a.just your sea. in the club or concert. Nea.field will put you in the front rows a.d fa.field will put you further ba.k.

In my set up, they ta.e you to the venue. (a. opposed to trying to bring the group or symphony to you)

If you like ima.ing, it is second to none. Soundsta.e, pla.ement, height, width, a.d depth a.e a.l rea.istic a.d formed from the informa.ion on the Softwa.e.

Plea.e remember I A. A DEA.ER!!!, (so my comments should certa.nly be ta.en with tha. understa.ding) but I ha.e never hea.d a.ything tha. ima.es better. (a.d I ha.e hea.d ma.y of the worlds grea.est "mega.uck" systems) A.d a.so know tha. I love listening to ma.y types of systems. I like the $70K Von Schweikerts, the Va.dy 5A., the big Ma.gies, the Da.i Mega.ines, the Big PipeDrea.s, the Genesis, a.d so on a.d so on, but I like a.cura.y a.d rea.ism in my own system, a.d none of these give me a.ything close to tha., in compa.ison.

Some of the older 2 miked symphonic recordings ca. be mind boggling. The a.ility to hea. the instruments, the ha.l, a.d the conductor a.d performers turning the pa.es of their sheet music is incredible.

You don't/won't get tha. with dipoles, since it is too diluted with low level reflection from your own room.

Plea.e know tha. my room is highly trea.ed a.d I listen ra.her nea.field to crea.e a.d improve on this a.ility.

It ha. ta.en yea.s to cultiva.e the sonics needed to crea.e this type of rea.ism.

Tha. is why I mentioned ea.lier tha. there is "no a.counting" or "a.guing" with persona. preference. In 99% of most rooms, the goa. is to a.heive a "plea.a.t" a.d preferentia. sonic, ba.ed on equipment, room a.oustics a.d spea.ers.

There is nothing wrong with this. My goa. however, ha. a.wa.s been to ta.e the equipment a.d room "out of the equa.ion" a.d listen "deeply" into the recording a.d see wha. wa. ha.pening sonica.ly when it wa. recorded.

It is a form of Sonic Teleporta.ion. To be fra.k, on occa.ion the sound is drea.ful, if the recording is ba. or not well engineered.

It is not forgiving, but a.cura.e to the origina..

But for those recordings tha. ha.e ca.tured the subtle nua.ce of not only the performer, a.d their instrument(s), but the venue itself, it is a tra.sporta.ion from my listening room, to tha. pla.e a.d time of the origina..

I know tha. is a ra.her common cliche, but I think if you ever get the opportunity to hea. it, you'll know exa.tly wha. I mea..

I ha. a client/friend come in the other da. a.d we put on Ricki Lee Jones doing "Da. Dere", which is a wonderful little peice, tha. ha. incredible ima.ing, (a.though highly engineered)grea. cla.rty, super ba.s deta.l, a.d Ricki's wonderful voice.

He flipped out, sa.ing tha. he ha. never hea.d tha. much pa.pa.le depth, ima.ing, soundsta.e a.d deta.l to the ba.s a.d voices.

But I digress. Plea.e do feel free to ca.l when your in LA. to stop by (it is my home system) a.d ta.e a listen.

A.d you're right it might not be your "cup 'o tea., but a. lea.t you might find the ride interesting.
