I've read that the RS meter has a peak at ~5KHz. I used a Panasonic WM-61A microphone, which has impressively flat response but poor S/N ratio. It's good for measurement but unsuitable for recording.I made the measurements with the microphone 3 feet away from the speaker. At normal listening distances, the bass rise won't be as pronounced and the room will contribute more. I was quite happy that my in-room (400 sq feet) measurements came out pretty close to Stereophile's anechoic chamber measurements.
