The MG1.6 is a fine speaker, but it has a slightly grainy character due to the design of the crossover. The MG12 is better in this regard. It is possible to smooth out the MG1.6 midrange at the cost of some bass extension. A modification that does this is documented in my article below.However, I wouldn't buy equipment knowing I'd need to mod it! Please make sure you'll be happy with whatever you buy. Good luck!
