I currently use Tympani IV's. I built my own tubed crossover.
I am using a custom tube amp on top and at 200wpc a quality custom transistor (bipolar) amp on the bottom.
I still need more power on the bottom, but since the top rolls off at 6dB/oct @ about 360 Hz, even my 40wpc triode amp is adequate here.
You must biamp. No way around it. This is critical.
The speakers are totally different biamped.
By the way, where do you live?
I'm in Maryland. If we're close, perhaps we can compare?
