Vince,
Replaced my Sequel 2s with Soundlab Pristine III+s and never looked back - well, just a few times to see them in the surround position (ba-ha). The Pristines smoke the Sequels at mid-range transparency and top to bottom seamlessness. The Soundlabs are more dynamic (micro and macro) too. Have never set up my CLSs (long story), so can't comment there. Wouldn't surprise me that a ML owner would love Apos - it's a clear step up, you get all the planar benefits and Apogees are less expensive!
Ran the Pristines with my Atma-Sphere M60s with wonderful results. Gorgeous actually! Tried some other amps (Classe Ten, PS Audio Delta 250Ms, Muse 150s, NEW A20s), but always came back to my light bulb collection. Then came DSigs and the OTL amps were out. While the SLs and DSigs were more similar than I expected, I like the more forward staging of the DSigs and the fact that they sound better loud. All of this was with a small room (think college dorm), so opinions could change once I get into a house (?this month).
Still haven't heard my Scinnies yet. They'll get the Plinius treatment first, then Llano, then? I'm looking at a pair of Eagle Kinetic 4s on the 'gon. They were known back in the day for handling the Scintillas with aplomb. Don't really need another amp, but it's all in the name of science!
I'm dying to: try XA160s, try JRDG monos (Model 6 with BPS), find a tube amp that can handle (maybe one of the big VTL/Manley monoblocks). These goals will have to wait until I get set up here in TX and start ditching some of this excess equipment.
