A line-level crossover has a lot of advantages over a speaker-level crossover: small, tight-tolerance components, virtually ideal electrical behavior, and no degradation of the amplifier's damping factor. Several people on this board are using line-level crossovers.
EdPS. Reactance simply means that voltage and current are not in phase with each other, i.e. energy is being stored and released at different times. Capacitors and inductors introduce reactance.
