Wow, let me try to answer your questions one at a time. The schematics for most models can be found by clicking on the [Tweaks] link at the top of the page. Mart has an Excel spreadsheet that computes the crossover response for various models.
600Hz would be too low a crossover frequency for a dome tweeter, but its no problem for the QR tweeter since the QR is much larger. This is one of the strengths of the MG1.6 - half of the audio spectrum is covered by a single driver.
My graphs show the electrical response of the crossover network. I do not have the equipment to accurately measure the acoustic response, but what I hear correlates with the electrical response.
The crossover point is where the woofer and tweeter outputs are the same. It is different than the -3dB points for the filter sections.
The bases are made from 1ft x 2ft x 1/2in prefinished MDF shelves. The small metal clips on the Maggie legs are normally used to hang mirrors. I built the bases so that my MG1.6s wouldn't wobble on the carpet. I didn't notice any changes in the sound.
Have fun, and welcome to the planar world!
