Of tubes used in old color televisions, the high-voltage rectifier is suitable for an ESL. These things were rated at 20-30kV and 1-2 milliamps.A damper diode or B+ rectifier won't do.
One consideration is that a tube rectifier requires a filament supply which may be at the HV potential.
