The power dissipated in an amplifier depends strongly on the current being delivered, so a 4 ohm load like a Maggie will cause an amp to run hotter. The maximum temperature ratings for most electronic components (other than tubes) range from 70 to 150 degrees C. The component failure rates increase rapidly as the maximum is approached, so while I can't say whether a hot amp is happy, a hot amp will be less reliable.
