At the crossover frequency of 600Hz, the tweeter section phase leads by +69 degrees and the woofer section phase lags by -92 degrees. Reversing the polarity on the tweeter is necessary to put both drivers approximately in phase at the crossover point. Using the same polarity for both drivers results in a large suckout. It may sound different, but probably not better.
