N11 Quadratic residue diffusers

Too cheap to buy these, as they are several hundred up to 1500 each. And after many hours building them I know why :) But cost me about $140 each in wood, already had some house paint, and after a few months of breathing sawdust an idea I've had for several years has finally materialized.

These are each 2 feet wide, 4 feet high, and 9.5 inches deep. As they are N11 style they have 10 wells, with the edges contributing to the 11th well.
Most importantly there are 4 periods. While a simple 1 or 2 diffusers will definitely improve sound quality my research suggests the substantial improvements occur when one can repeat the sequence or have at least 4 periods of the pattern. In theory they should be floor to ceiling, but you know. I have included a cross section of the ratios, and a link to where the picture came from, with boatloads of information and other links. Fantastic resource from a Dutch fellow.

Does it (they) work? Yes, very well. Imaging is precise. Very happy. ;)

Just before installing them on the french cleat along the wall I listened to a few tracks and instruments were more smeared along the bare front wall. With my head dead ahead vocals were centralized, instruments may have been a little left or right, but when turning my head to "see" them they moved more left or right and became large. With the N11 diffusers in place vocals are of course centered and instruments don't move when I move my head, so when looking slightly left or right to "see" the instrument the image is locked in its spot. Depth of instrument can then be "seen". With no loss of spaciousness or air.

A wonderful track I have recently just been introduced to, which is an awesome track for this imaging test is Agnes Obel - The Curse look for the plucking of the instrument compared to the bowing of the other; they are close to one another but really hard to distinguish their placement without these diffusers. With them in place it is easy. Even harder is placing the bowing of cello and viola after her first sultry airy verse.
