Your MG IIIas were not stock! Different frame material, and not "tuned" by Magnepan.How much listening have you done with the "stock version" in several different rooms?
The MGIIIa has the largest bass area of any of the 3 series, hence lower bass.
Try the MGIIIA in the right size room for lowest bass.
Also, the power amp choice effects the low end too.
Some power amp-magnepan combinations go lower than others.
